Vector Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Vector uses information to provide the features you choose, keep accounts and the service secure, support the app, and improve your experience. This policy explains what information is involved when you use Vector, why it is used, when it may be shared, and the controls available to you.
About This Policy
This policy applies to the Vector mobile app, website, support form, and related services. It describes the information involved in app features such as accounts, profiles, posts, drives, routes, maps, advertising, analytics, support, and privacy requests.
Information Associated With Your Use of Vector
Information you provide
When you create an account, update your profile, publish content, add a vehicle, or contact support, you provide the information needed for those features. This may include your email address, username, account information, display name, bio, profile photo, preferences, posts, captions, photos, comments, replies, mentions, vehicle information you choose to add, and support or privacy request messages.
Drive and location information
When you open maps, search for locations, or start recording a drive, Vector uses relevant location and driving information for the feature you requested. This may include precise location, background location during active drive recording when permission is granted, route paths, timestamps, distance, duration, average speed, top speed, map searches, and route searches.
Social and app activity
When you use social and app features, Vector uses related activity information to make those features work. This may include likes, follows, comments, replies, mentions, notifications, screens viewed, features used, and technical performance information.
Advertising and technical information
Your device may provide app version, platform, device or installation identifiers, notification tokens, network information, user agent, performance information, and crash, diagnostic, or error information. Advertising partners may process device identifiers, approximate location, app and ad interactions, performance information, and diagnostic data.
How Vector Uses Information
Vector uses information to create and secure accounts, operate social features, record drives, display maps and routes, calculate driving statistics, support community heatmaps and route suggestions, send notifications, provide support, prevent spam and abuse, troubleshoot errors, understand product usage, test and improve features, manage ads and consent choices, and keep Vector reliable.
Location Searches
To provide place suggestions, maps, routes, and addresses, search terms, selected places, and relevant location information may be sent to mapping and location-service providers.
Location and Drive Recording
Vector uses precise location to display your position, record drives, create routes, calculate driving statistics, and provide nearby or route-related features.
If you start a drive and grant background location permission, recording can continue while the app is in the background so the route can be recorded more completely. If you turn off location or background-location permissions, maps or drive recording may be limited.
Shared routes and community contributions are handled according to the feature and available settings.
Routes can reveal places that are important to you, such as your home, workplace, school, or frequently visited locations. Review route information before sharing it.
Advertising and Your Choices
Advertising helps support free access to Vector.
Vector works with advertising partners, including Google AdMob, to display and measure ads. Depending on your consent, region, device settings, Google settings, and iOS App Tracking Transparency choice, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, or limited.
Advertising partners may process identifiers, approximate location, app activity, ad interactions, and technical data. This processing may support ad delivery, measurement, security, and fraud prevention.
Vector may request iOS App Tracking Transparency permission. Declining App Tracking Transparency permission may limit personalization and measurement, but it does not necessarily remove ads.
Improving Vector
To keep Vector reliable and understand which features are useful, we use analytics to learn how the app performs and how features are used.
Analytics may include app opens, screens viewed, features used, actions taken, and technical performance.
Analytics information may be associated with your account or device.
Service Providers
Vector uses service providers for hosting and storage, authentication, mapping and location, analytics, advertising, notifications, email and support, security, and abuse prevention.
Our support form may use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect against spam and automated abuse, as described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Your Controls and Privacy Rights
You can control many permissions through your device settings, including location, background location, notifications, camera, photo library, and iOS App Tracking Transparency. Turning off permissions may limit features such as drive recording, background route tracking, push notifications, posting photos, saving images, and ad personalization.
In Vector, you can update profile details, choose what you post, delete some content, manage vehicles, choose unit and theme preferences, control whether you contribute to community heatmap features where the app provides that setting, and open ad privacy choices when the app reports that those choices are available. You can also use Google, Apple, and device-level settings to manage advertising and tracking choices.
To make an access, correction, deletion, or privacy request, use the support form.
Your Account and Privacy Requests
You can request account deletion through the controls available in Vector. When an account is deleted, personal information associated with the account will be deleted or de-identified, subject to security needs, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, backups, technical limitations, and other legitimate purposes.
Public content copied by other users may remain outside Vector's control, independent third-party records may remain, and temporary backup copies may remain for a limited time. We may require reasonable identity verification before processing access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests.
To make a privacy request, ask questions, or request help with data access, correction, or deletion, use the support form.
Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing Vector, maintaining security, supporting users, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and preventing abuse.
Retention periods vary by data type, account status, sensitivity, purpose, legal requirements, backups, and provider systems.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. However, no system or method of transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children's Privacy
Vector is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to Vector, contact us through the support page so we can review the request.
International Processing
Vector and its service providers may process and store information in countries other than the country where you live. Privacy and data protection laws may differ between countries.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Vector changes. When we make changes, we will update the last-updated date above and may provide additional notice when appropriate.
